Thank you for your interest in serving on the Worship Arts teams!

Who should audition?

If you have a heart to lead others into meaningful worship, and you feel you are skilled with your voice or musical instrument, we would love to get to know you! Please read the expectations and requirements for participation on the worship team audition form, and fill out the questions as completely as possible.

Why do we have auditions?

We have a vision for continuously increasing our worship ministry here at Spring Valley. Auditions are a very practical tool for evaluating the skills and heart of people who feel called to serve on a worship team.  Some auditions can be very intense and cause un-needed nervousness.   Our goal is to create a “dread free” atmosphere throughout the audition process so you feel comfortable.  At the same time, we value honesty, and we want to encourage the pursuit of skill in the music we present to the Lord.

When do we have auditions?

We will hold auditions leading into the fall (August 2018) of the year, however, if you’re just joining the church you can contact our worship pastor to set up a personal audition after you have had an opportunity to get connected in the worship ministry.

Worship Team FAQ’s

1. “Who gets involved with the Worship Teams at Spring Valley?” –  The people who are involved with the Worship Teams attend Spring Valley on a regular basis. They feel gifted and called by God to use their gifts to serve our church through their musical talents. They have a servant’s heart, are ready and willing to use their gifts to honor God and to share His love with others.

2. “Will I be asked to serve every week?” – No.  We try to be very conscious of your schedule and provide a good rotation that will allow you to both serve and be refreshed by participating with the congregation. You are required to attend weekly rehearsals only if you are scheduled for that Sunday.

3. “Will I sing at all Sunday morning services?” – Yes. Whoever serves on a Sunday morning will most likely serve at both the 9:00am and 10:30am services.

4. “When are rehearsals?” – Rehearsal time is currently on Wednesday evenings from 6;30 to 7:45; Sunday morning sound check is 8:15.

5. “How long do rehearsals usually last?” – Rehearsals last approximately 1  to 1 1/2  hours depending on what needs to be accomplished. We usually put together 4-5 songs each week, depending on the service need, so it takes some time to get everything just right.

6. “If I audition and don’t make the team, is there still an opportunity for me to serve in music?” – Absolutely! The Celebration Choir, which sings in each service, is a non-auditioned group, and is always looking for new members that have a love and passion to sing and worship. Additionally, there is an expectation that when you are not singing on an assigned Sunday with the Worship Team, you will sing with the Celebration Choir. This is an excellent place to develop in your skill while still doing what you love. Practices are also on Wednesday @ 6:30 pm.
